"But now, for a brief moment, the LORD our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage."

Ezra 9.8

Momentum572

Believing that moments can change lives, our goal is to empower families experiencing homelessness by providing relief and creating momentum for stable futures.

The Momentum572 Story

The short answer is that It began with the question, "What would it look like to Close the Gap from being a church that makes an impact on our community quarterly thru our Live Out Sundays, to a church that had a constant impact?" That question asked by Pastor Chad, led us into a journey of prayer and intentional conversation for almost two years.

The intentional prayer continues, but the conversation has changed from "what", to "now".

The vision is to come alongside Yukon Public School families experiencing homelessness, by creating a place and community for families to find relief and create momentum for stable futures they can only currently dream about.

Our BIG VISION is to develop a village of transitional housing tiny homes designed with families in mind, located on the same land as the church's building. This would allow us to make available the needed wraparound services that families in these situations would benefit from...helping create the foundation for stable futures many take for granted. Think finance & budgeting classes, cooking and meal planning classes, counseling, daycare, life coaching, and more. The village would include a sort of "HOA" that includes residents in upkeep and accountability to the success of all who are part of the village. Research suggests to us that families need this kind of support for up to 3 years.  We believe transformation happens in the context of community.  By providing housing on the church property, we will be reminded each time we gather that we exist for more than ourselves, and we can best nurture the kind of community that walks well with each other. While we would not require residents to "attend church", it's our hope that the way we love and care for them in their time of need would reveal God to them in ways they would be drawn to God THRU us.

Recognizing the vision is much greater than we can bring to reality on our own, we have started a separate NPO called Momentum572 (M572) to make it easier for those who may not, or may not be able to give to a church, to give to the cause. While M572 is governed by a separate board to help oversee the work, lead by Pastor Chad the M572 and CHCN boards are committed to work in harmony with each other so while separate they are one in effort.

It will take years for the full vision to come together, but till then we are giving ourselves to helping families as our current resources allow. If you'd like to be part of the movement we invite you to reach out to us and/or give via the links below. You may also give thru our CHCN giving option.
